Hot Raw Chef contest + raw caramel-fudge brownies

January 28, 2011

Today I am fulfilling two promises, and asking one huge favor from all of you.

Remember the raw caramel-fudge brownies on this post, for which I promised to share the recipe? I’m sharing it today. And remember also when I said in this post that I’d soon be announcing my first truly big opportunity as a chef? This is it.

I am officially a contestant in the
2011 Hot Raw Chef Sweet Valentine Recipe Contest.

My entry? A how-to video for these to-die-for caramel-fudge brownies.

The favor I’m asking? For you to VOTE FOR MY VIDEO, video #5!

There’s a lot at stake in this contest. If I were to win, not only would I receive a $5,000 scholarship towards a class at the Living Light Culinary Arts Institute, but perhaps even more importantly, I’d receive more exposure as an up-and-coming raw chef than I could ever hope to generate on my own. This means, among other things, I’ll have a better chance of getting my book published, and sooner rather than later!

CLICK HERE TO VOTE for video #5,
Chef Amber Shea Ford’s raw caramel-fudge brownies!

This is so, so, so unbelievably important to me. So, as promised, I’m casting aside my discomfort with self-promotion and asking you, from the bottom of my raw-chocolate-covered heart, to PLEASE cast your vote for me, Chef Amber Shea! I’m video #5.

In return for your vote, you’ll receive a FREE ebook containing all 42 of the contestants’ recipes—including these brownie beauties.

You know you want to make these dark, tender, fudgy raw brownies and the cocoa-scented whipped caramel-vanilla icing on top. No dehydrator needed!

In addition to your own vote, I’m also begging you to tweet the link to vote along with my name, Amber Shea, retweet it, post it on Facebook, blog about it, email it to your friends and family, hand out flyers (just kidding on that last one), and generally do anything and everything you can to spread the word and get as many people as possible to vote for video #5!

Here’s an example tweet you can copy and paste:
Please vote for Amber Shea @AlmostVeganBlog as the next Hot Raw Chef! Vote for video #5 here : http://bit.ly/gKIRdP and please RT!

Voting takes only a minute, I promise. All you have to do is scroll to the bottom of the voting page to enter your name and email, and you’ll be sent to a list of entrants where you can select video #5. I will be more grateful to you than you can imagine. Please help me win this thing!

CLICK HERE TO VOTE for video #5,
Chef Amber Shea Ford’s raw caramel-fudge brownies!

Thank you all SO much, and keep your fingers crossed for me!

    Hi Amber,
Just curious you mentioned that you used a spring form pan, but did not see you take it out of the pan. I have not seen a square spring form pan where do you suggest I buy one?

Also YOU have my VOTE ~ !

    Best of Luck

    • January 28, 2011 3:43 pm

Hi Kasi! My 6-inch square springform was actually a hand-me-down from a friend, so I’m not exactly sure where to get one (I had never seen one before either). I’m guessing that online would be your best bet, though!

  21. January 28, 2011 2:51 pm

You go girl!! Fingers are crossed. :)

Voted for you! Trying to tweet also but looks like that browser window’s frozen! Speaking of which, is there a link to the recipe without watching the video? Not much bandwidth for video-watching up here…

Congrats in advance! I had a friend who did Living Light when I lived in CA, and I knew a lot of the people: it’s a great place, but aside from the additional networking, it probably won’t teach you more than you know from 105. Networking is ineffably important, though.
    love
    Ela

    • January 29, 2011 10:31 pm

I haven’t put the recipe in print publicly, yet…but I just emailed it to you :)

I completely concur on the networking bit. I think that is/will be the most valuable part of it. Being able to take a class or two at Living Light would just be icing on the raw cake!

I have just voted for you for your fab dessert and can’t wait to see the recipe. Why don’t you post more raw recipes???

    • January 29, 2011 10:34 pm

Thanks, Cristina. I got a bit out of the habit of recipe-posting while I was away at 105, but two raw recipes in the past week isn’t too bad, right? I’m getting back in the swing :) There are many more to come!

    Dear Amber,

I have been following yoour blog and I love it! Moreover, I love your recipes. Your raw caramel brownies are to die for, I just made them yesterday and they’re almost gone! I think they will help me get my boyfriend off conventional sweets! But, your kale chips are amazing too. So, keep up creating those amazing and luscious recipes and I’ll keep trying them and enjoying myself in the process. All the best in 2012

    • January 1, 2012 12:17 pm

Hi Alex – thank you so much! I’m thrilled you and your bf love these brownies. I’ll have lots more recipes for sweet treats and a whole chapter on kale chips in my book Practically Raw, which will be out in March 2012! :) Happy new year!
