Review & giveaway: Cavewoman Bars
It was only recently that I first heard of Cavewoman Bars, and I had the pleasure of corresponding with their creator, Alyssa Boyle. Cavewoman Bars are made of only whole, unprocessed nuts, berries, fruit, and spices, are a good source of fiber, and provide 1½ Servings of fruit per bar. They contain NO dairy, soy, wheat, gluten, animal products, GMOs, or added sugar. Most of the ingredients are raw, and many are organic. Alyssa was kind enough to send me a sampler pack of her bars. As soon as I saw the flavors, I couldn’t wait to dig in.

Unwrapped, the bars look like exactly what they are—high-quality ingredients smooshed together in portable bar form, no frills necessary. They’re also shelf-stable for two months unrefrigerated!
I ate the Peanut Butter & Jelly bar first. It’s made of dates, cherries, blueberries, organic strawberries, cashews, and organic peanut butter—that’s it! It was uncanny just how much this tasted like a PB&J sandwich; it was one of my two favorites of the bunch.

I ate the raw Banana Bread bar (dates, bananas, walnuts, cashews, organic lemon flavor, and spices) on my way back from Oklahoma City last month. It made an excellent road trip snack.

The raw Pineapple Upside-Down Cake bar was great, especially considering how few ingredients it contained—just dates, organic pineapple, cherries, pecans, and almonds.

I thought the Blueberry Pancake bar (dates, blueberries, almonds, pecans, cashews, organic flaxseeds, and natural maple flavor) might taste a little like my raw flaxseed pancakes, and it kind of did! The bar, though, was sweeter and more moist, perfect for eating out-of-hand.

I saved for last what I anticipated to be my favorite—the raw Baklava bar! I really wish I’d gotten a better picture of it, because it was AMAZING. With only dates, walnuts, pistachios, almonds, and spices, it was incredible just how well this emulated the flavors of real baklava (one of my fave desserts of all time).

Ooh, the Baklava intrigues me the most! I would love to try a raw, vegan version of that.
I think you might be on my blog roll…?
I already subscribe to your posts.
And now I “like” Cavewoman bars. Look how productive I am!
Ummm I just want to try all of them. As they say in Dallas Cowboys history “Both, Coach!” except here it would be all 5 of them. Doesn’t sound like any of them are bad at all – no soy, no gluten, what’s there not to like? But I *LOVE* Baklava and never seen any of the other fruity nutty bar companies offer anything remotely pretending to be a Baklava flavor, so that’s gotta be something to check out!!
And I just friended Cavewoman Bars on Facebook …. is “friended” a verb?? somehow I think Scrabble players would challenge me on this.
And I also added “Almost Vegan” to my Google Reader. Does this count as an extra entry???
Baklava. I’m getting hungry… or maybe I really just need a drink of cooooool refreshing water.

I’ve seen Cavewoman Bars grow since the inception and I cannot begin to tell you how passionately Alyssa feels in delivering quality vegan products. I have been lucky enough to be a taste tester for all her fantastic creations, and they continually blow me away (a non Vegan / non vegetarian) how delicious and satisfying they are. Please try them for yourself, enjoy, and spread the Cavewoman love!
Wow, the baklava bar sounds amazing! Thanks for the giveaway!
The pineapple upside down bar sounds so orangutan tasty. As a matter of fact, all the bars, with their fruity goodness would make any orangutan a happy camper. FYI, orangutans-endangered throughout their habitat on Borneo & Sumatra- are the world’s largest fruit-eaters. But I hope to try these wonderful bars to taste for myself how Cavewoman Bars stack up to the orangutan challenge.
Raw Baklava sounds scrumdilliumptious!
Can I enter, and have these go in the bloggie swap if I win?

I was lucky to purchase a few of your bars when you were selling them at the Whole Foods in Sherman Oaks. I loved the Blueberry Pancake and also the PB&J. There is an extremely popular health foods store near where I live in MN that would certainly be interested in your product. Check out Valley Natural Foods in Foods in Burnsville, MN. Keep up the great work. And thanks!!!
These look great! I think Baklava sounds amazing! My grandmother makes the best paklava (Armenian version of the tasty pastry)
Absolutely love the Pineapply Upside Down bar. Tastes exactly like the cake without the guilt. A great alternative for gluten-free snacking. I am adding you to my Facebook for friends and family to explore these delectible treats!
These sound great! I would love to try them all but to me the PB&J sounds like the best. I’ve never had Baklava before, so I’m unsure as to how that would taste…sounds good though!

Never heard of a cavewomen bar before but they sound great.
Id go with a blueberry pancake though.
I have to go with the PB & J. Call me old-fashioned, but nothing beats a PB & J, regardless of if it’s sandwiched or not.
